Kirsty’s practice to date, focuses on an exploration of the design process and how it creates work. Using a process entitled ‘Abstraction and Response’, Kirsty creates mark making drawings from which elements or characteristics of these can be refined and cultivated into Kirsty’s chosen area of Jewellery.

Inspiration for the work is taken from everyday life with marks or composition that have often been overlooked or made redundant, using photography to catch and manipulate the images. It is a celebration of the journey an object goes through and using this as the main aesthetic for her work, Kirsty creates pieces that show the evolution of its journey however little they may be, exploring and challenging the intentional nature that comprises a finished piece.
